The Nyungwe Canopy Walkway: Technical Details

Structure: The walkway consists of a series of suspension bridges and observation platforms suspended between large trees. The entire structure is 160 meters (525 feet) long and reaches a maximum height of 50 meters (160 feet) above the forest floor.

Engineering: Designed by Canadian engineers and built with international safety standards. The walkway is regularly inspected and maintained to ensure safety.

Access: Requires climbing stairs to reach the starting point of the walkway. The walk itself is relatively easy but does involve some gentle swaying (which is normal for suspension bridges).

Capacity: The walkway can accommodate a maximum of 8 people at a time, ensuring an intimate experience and minimizing impact on the forest.

Safety Features: Safety nets on both sides, non-slip walkways, and regular structural inspections. Guides accompany all visitors.

Best Times: The walkway is accessible year-round. Morning visits often offer clearer views, while afternoon visits may have better light for photography. Early morning is best for bird activity.

Accessibility: Not recommended for visitors with severe vertigo, mobility issues, or heart conditions. Children must be accompanied by adults.
